Hidden behind an unmarked door in an apartment building is Ruby. You won’t regret making the effort to find this sophisticated, high-ceilinged bar. With highly skilled staff and swift service, they are known for producing the perfect Manhattan, but if you want something a little different, ask for one of their Burnt Fig cocktails. Alternatively, you can simply describe your tastes to the bar staff and they will put something together especially for you. Prices range from £11-17 per drink in this upmarket venue.

Salon 39

You are advised to book in advance at weekends to ensure you get into this popular little bar, so good that it’s where bar tenders choose to spend their nights off. There is a limited food menu, with the focus firmly on the drinks created by expert mixologists, with beer on tap for those who dislike spirits. On average, you’ll pay between £10-13 for a drink, with whiskey cocktails costing up to £16. Relax to the sound of jazz, blues and soul in this intimate venue.

Brass Monkey

If you are looking for something a little different, Brass Monkey is a tiki bar with a South Pacific theme. They have a range of unusual glassware and you can find yourself sipping from a skull, volcano or monkey cup. Brass Monkey boasts the largest selection of rum varieties in the city and although their prices are at the high end of the scale, their drinks are well worth it. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, and they frequently have live bands performing.

1105

Named after its postcode, the 1105 caters more for professionals in their late twenties and beyond, and is for those who prefer to savour their drink rather than down shots. The menu has a range of traditional cocktails and modern creations and the staff are knowledgeable and skilled. If you are unsure what to choose, one of their most popular drinks is the cucumber based Yum Yum. Be aware that there is little seating and this is predominantly a standing bar which can get very crowded at the weekend. Their drinks are expensive at around £11.50 but the glasses are generous.

K Bar

The K Bar is the place for Martini lovers and is one of the oldest cocktail bars in Copehagen. Priced at the higher end of the market, they offer an impressive 13 different varieties of the cocktail and are renowned for their Monster Martini or, if you want something different, ask for a Lychee Martini. If Martinis are not to your taste, they are more than happy to mix something equally delicious for you. A trendy environment awaits you in the K Bar, with soft settees for you to settle into and intimate lighting to create a chilled ambience. Soft rock and 80s music plays in the background as you take in the views over the canal.

Bar 7

Bar 7 draws its inspiration from New York and is divided into different areas to appeal to different types of clientele. They have deliberately created a homely feel so that it is almost like being at someone’s party than being in a bar. You can find all the classic cocktails on their menu, but if you want to sample a house special, try a ‘Danish Strawberries’. One of the more reasonably priced bars, this is nevertheless still very sophisticated.
