Best Fishing Spots From Around The World

Nova Scotia, Canada

Prince Edward IslandIf you are a Bluefin tuna enthusiast, then you have to set sail for Prince Edward Island. In 1979, a tuna weight 1,496 pounds (the current world record) was caught. Other tuna in this area are not far behind- tons of fish that have been 1,000+ pounds have been caught over the years and most are at minimum 800 pounds. This area is for sports fishing, though you can pay to take home 1-2 Bluefin tuna per season, depending on the year. The season runs from August to the middle of October.

Phuket, Thailand

Andaman SeaIf you are a fan of deep sea fishing, then this is a great fishing destination. Head to the Andaman sea for some fish that will put up a fight. Some of the fish in this fishing spot include tuna, marlin, sea bass, queenfish, giant trevally, catfish, carp, and barbs. This a spot you can enjoy year round but are more likely to catch the best fish between July and October.

 

Malindi, Kenya

MalindiHave you ever heard of a billfish royal slam, where you catch five different species of billfish within a single day? In Malindi, you probably have the best chance of anywhere else in the world. There are several species of billfish offshore here, including short-billed spearfish, black, striped, and blue marlin, swordfish, and sailfish. The area also offers several charter boats, where you can work with experienced crews as you try to catch your billfish. The best time to try to accomplish a billfish royal slam is between January and February, which is summertime in that part of the hemisphere.

Sicily, Italy

Sicily IslandSicily is considered to be one of the most spectacular places to visit in Italy for its rich views and history. It offers clear waters that are home to a huge variety of fish, which also makes it a can’t miss fishing destination. Here you can find swordfish, amberjack, grouper, tuna, and more. If you are looking for a challenge, pick up a spear and give spearfishing off of the Italian Isle a try. It is a great way to add some adventure to your fishing expedition.

Panama

Are you a fan of fishing poppers? If so, then Panama can offer you the chance of a lifetime to catch some big fish. The nearshore reefs and rocky headlands of the Panama coastline are home to large schools of tuna. You can also catch Wahoo, Mahi, Bluefin Trevally, Large Sierra, Roosterfish, and Cubera Snapper using poppers. This is just two-and-a-half hours from Miami and there are a lot of great fishing resorts in the area. You can fish on the coast of Panama all year, though the fall season can be very wet.

Victoria, Australia

Those seeking adventure in the great sport of fishing simply have to try shark fishing. One of the best places to accomplish this feat is Victoria, Australia. While the waters of the coast may be fierce, the Bass Straight is one of the best places to catch a number of shark varieties. This includes the gummy shark, common thresher, organic blue whale, great hammerhead, bronze whaler, and so many more. If you fish during the right time, you will find that you can pull shark after shark into your boat.

Any adventurous fisherman (or woman) simply has to try some of these best fishing spots around the world. You will not be disappointed as you reel in fish after fish. Before you book a trip, however, be sure that you know the requirements in the area, and whether you can keep fish or are required to catch and release.
