Skiing in Avoriaz, France
Of course, one of the main reasons that people visit Avoriaz is for the wonderful skiing opportunities. Perched 600 metres above Morzine on cliffs that sit above a valley makes it a resort full of snowy possibilities.
Depending on your skill you will find that there is a skiing opportunity for you, take a look at the ski area guide below to find out where is best for you or your family.
Beginners: If you are new to the skiing world then there is a perfect ski area for you to begin with. The TS Seraussaix is a beginner blue with a lift (of the same name) which allows those new to the sport to find their feet. A wide run that is not very steep will give any beginner the confidence they need to progress.
Intermediate: There are over 250kms of reds and blues for you to pick from in Avoriaz, so there really is something to keep you occupied throughout the whole holiday! There are some tough terrains around Hauts Forts all the way down to Les Podrains.
Experts: If you really want a challenge then why not take the World Cup downhill course? There is also the ‘wall’ which links France to Switzerland with 300m of twists, turns and bumps. Experts will also find several blacks at Hauts Forts down to the TS du Crot.
If you are confused by the terms blues, reds and blacks then never fear! Blue is one of the simplest, easy going trails or slopes for beginners and intermediates. Red is for those with a bit more experience and black is for those who see themselves as experts. If you are unsure which category you fall into then perhaps seek the advice of a guide or instructor before taking on something too difficult.
